Artist Biography

Born in Moscow into a family of musicians, Julia Krasko distinguished herself at the age of 21 by winning First Prize in the prestigious Paganini International Competition (1992). Two years later, in 1994, she made her Berlin debut in Berlin Philharmonic Hall, and made a recording for West Berlin Radio.

In 1995 she recorded her first solo CD, featuring the Bartók Solo Sonata, the Prokofiev Sonata No. 2, and the Stravinsky Duo Concertante for the Russian Disc label. In 1996 she recorded the Glazunov Violin Concerto with the Russian State Capella Orchestra under Valery Poliansky for the Chandos label. That same year she toured Spain under the patronage of Queen Sophia. In 1997 she toured the US as soloist with the Russian-American Youth Orchestra, a tour that included appearances in Carnegie Hall in New York and Ozawa Hall in Boston.

Julia Krasko has appeared frequently as soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, under former Music Director Vasily Sinaisky and current Music Director Yuri Simonov. She is also a frequent soloist with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra under Music Director Constantine Orbelian. In the spring of 2000 she is the soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic on the orchestra's tour of the UK. Ms. Krasko has also appeared with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra under Vladimir Fedoseev, the Russian State Symphony under Valery Poliansky, the Southwest German Orchestra, the Czech Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro Felice of Genoa, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Deutsche Symphony Orchestra of Berlin.

Recent tours have taken Ms. Krasko to Germany, U.K., France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Finland, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, South Korea, Latin America, Egypt, the Philippines and the US.
